In the twelfth webinar of the FHWA’s Every Day Counts (EDC)-3 Smarter Work Zones (SWZ) Webinar series, the FHWA Work Zone Management Team and Massachusetts DOT’s (MassDOT’s) State Traffic Engineer will discuss MassDOT’s implementation of Technology Applications using the Work Zone Intelligent Transportation Systems Implementation Guide (FHWA-HOP-14-008).  Topics include a brief review of the Technology Application initiative and a discussion of how MassDOT institutionalized SWZ through development of internal documents and tools, such as the Smart Work Zone Design Standards, the Smart Work Zone Standard Operating Procedures, and the Work Zone ITS Feasibility Scoring Criteria. This webinar will provide participants with an understanding of the SWZ initiative and how agency standards, policy, and business processes factor into meeting states’ respective SWZ Technology Application goals.
